TIMCO to Sign New Co-Op Program Agreement with Regional Technical Colleges on October 18

MACON, GA—16 October, 2012 … TIMCO Aviation Services (“TIMCO”) announced today that it will sign a memorandum of agreement with four technical colleges in the Middle Georgia region at its facility on Thursday, 18 October for a unique co-op program designed to provide students with paid, hands-on training. The four schools are Central Georgia Technical College (“CGTC”), South Georgia Technical College (“SGTC”), Middle Georgia Technical College (“MGTC”) and Middle Georgia College/Middle Georgia State College.

The agreement will give eligible students the opportunity to continue their education toward diplomas with specialized courses in airframe and powerplant (A&P) as well as in aircraft structural technology, while gaining hands-on work experience in the repair and inspection of commercial aircraft.

Keith Statzer, TIMCO General Manager-Macon, said, “The partnership between TIMCO and the technical colleges will give students an opportunity to refine their skills and apply what they learn in the classroom in a real maintenance environment. TIMCO will benefit from training a skilled group of potential future employees in a field critical to our success.”  He added, “We are excited to launch this program with these local schools and applaud each school for their willingness to work with us on this creative workforce development program.”

To become eligible, students must complete two semesters of required A&P or aircraft structural technology courses while maintaining a “B” average or better. Once admitted to the co-op program, students will be paid as employees of TIMCO, while completing specialized courses at their respective colleges.
