28 Students Graduate TIMCO / GTCC Aircraft Structures Accelerated Training-to-Work Program
All Graduates Will Receive Full Time Jobs with TIMCO
GREENSBORO, NC—11 January, 2013 … TIMCO Aviation Services (“TIMCO”) announced today that 28 students have successfully completed the TIMCO-Guilford Technical Community College (“GTCC”) Aircraft Maintenance Structures Training Program. TIMCO, GTCC and Guilford County JobLinks designed the innovative program to identify, assess, hire, train and help prospective candidates start a career in aviation. Each graduating student was paid by TIMCO during the accelerated 9 week program, and as a condition of successful completion of the course, will be provided a full time job with the company.
The students in the structures course gained skills working with materials and equipment used in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of commercial aircraft, and they will apply those skills in their new jobs at TIMCO. A new course was also launched this week with a focus on composites maintenance, and plans are underway for additional courses in coming months.
Bill Norman, President of MRO Services for TIMCO, said, “We are very excited to welcome these high achieving graduates into the TIMCO family. They should be proud to have completed the structures program successfully on such an aggressive schedule.”
Dr. Richard Pagan, Chairman of the Aviation Department at GTCC added, “The aircraft MRO industry is facing a labor challenge in coming years with a high demand for increased numbers of skilled employees. Programs like this one are going to be critically important to help fulfill the need and to help close a gap between available jobs and a lack of required skills.”
Prospective students can learn more about the program requirements and to apply for future courses by visiting the GTCC website at www.gtcc.edu.
